Welcoming LGBTQ

Photos: Live Oak In Action

A great group of adults and kids (including some visitors from Denmark) decorated and rode in a SF Trolley in Alameda's July 4th Parade this year (2018). A couple of the kids passed out little American flags and bookmarks with info about Live Oak to the crowds. And one Live Oak'er walked ahead of the trolley greeting folks and waving a large rainbow flag!

See lots more photos from this parade.

A great crowd -- members and friends -- enjoyed our second annual Celebration Dinner on September 9, 2017.

We shared a great Italian dinner, a mysterious magic show, and community singing, as well as conversation and camaraderie. Enjoy some photos of this event.

See a few more photos from this delightful evening.

Enjoyng dinner and conversation together.

Games Night and Burrito Bar -- a huge success! Twenty-seven people enjoyed burritos, followed by lots of games: Yahtzee, Chicken-feet Dominos, Pandemic, Apples to Apples, Banangrams, and Spot It. If you missed this Games Night, have no fear! There's another coming September 20! Woot.

Take a look at photos from this event!

Live Oak UU worked with our partner, Alameda Point Collaborative, at their Harvest Festival, October 20, 2012. Members and friends of Live Oak cooked, set up, staffed carnival games, and promoted this popular event. Enjoy a few photos of Live Oak'ers and others. Alameda Point Collaborative Harvest Festival
Once again, Live Oak UU participated in Alameda's July 4th parade! See photos of our "float," Live Oak friends, and the crowds along the way. Many thanks to David Fry, photographer. Jim and our truck with banner on the front.
Fun photos from our Fun & Games Night (June 30, 2012). Many thanks to Carl Temple and his assistant David Fry, grillers extraordinaire. And to Nanci Armstrong-Temple for shopping and organizing. And to all who came and all who pitched in. Great fun! Heads-up to others: Don't miss the next Fun & Games! Many thanks to David Fry, photographer. Girls playing a game.
Enjoy some photos from our St. Patrick's Day Stewardship Party (March 17, 2012). Good food and great entertainment made the evening. Many thanks to Neil Planchon, photographer.

Partnering with Rev. Zsuzsa Bartha, the minister for a small Unitarian church in Nagykaroly, Transylvania, Live Oak raised funds to help build a playground for children in the community. Check out photos of the playground and more.

Fun fact: Zsuzsa is wearing a Live Oak UU t-shirt.

Live Oak's first Winter Holiday Concert was a huge success. We filled the house on Dec. 19 for a wonderful program of music. Several photos are available.
On Nov. 25, Live Oak members, friends, and their guests enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner together -- followed by a candlight vespers service of gratitude. Enjoy a few more photos of this event.
Photos of volunteers from many organizations, including Live Oak UU, working together in Oakland on 10-10-10. Everyone worked together to revitalize Laney College's community garden, offering skills-building workshops, listening to dynamic speakers, and bringing together local leaders for climate justice.

Below: Our Holiday Gathering (December 14, 2009) -- Adults and children celebrating the winter holidays (Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa) together. We sang carols, played dreidle, and made holiday decorations, including Danish hearts.
