Welcoming LGBTQ

4th of July Parade in Alameda

For the fourth year in a row, Live Oak had a float in the July 4th parade in Alameda. The crowds loved us (of course). Many thanks to Kate Hand, organizer; Jim Freschi, truck driver; David Fry, truck-fetcher and sound man; Mark Daniel, piano player; and all those who sang and waved from the truck! And also a shout out to our fans (some of whom are shown below) for waving and cheering us on all along the route. See if you can pick out the Live Oak related folks in some of the waving crowd pictures. (Photos from several years by David Fry)

"Here Come the Unitarians," was heard in the crowd as our float want by!

Our choir (and friends) sang "God Bless America," "This Land Is Your Land," "This Little Light of Mine," "Siyahamba" (in Zulu, Spanish, and English), and more along the three-mile parade route.
