Faith Communities
Coming Out, Coming Together
Fifteen members and friends of Live Oak joined with 150 members of a dozen Alameda-based faith communities for a walk and celebration honoring the joyous presence of LGBTIQ individuals and families on National Coming Out Day. And four of our talented singers joined in the newly formed Alameda interfaith choir, which performed at the celebration. The choir is considering working together for other occasions.
Two Alameda newspapers published front page articles about the Oct. 11, 2009, walk and celebration, listing the names of all the participating communities (including Live Oak!): Alameda Sun and Alameda Journal. Other articles about this event appeared: The Island on-line and Bay Area Reporter on-line.
Here are a few photos from the event. Thank you, Jim Freschi, Niels Kjellund, and Kathryn Duke for this photographic record.
